North East Medical College, Sylhet

North East Medical College was established in 1998 and it is situated in the city of Sylhet. The college is affiliated with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) under the School of Medical Sciences. and is a well-recognized institute for the study of medicine. The college offers 5 years of Bachelors in Medicine, Bachelors in Surgery (MBBS) course, and it is approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). The objective of the college is to provide the best education and proper training, that is why, along with the Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) degree, a one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for the students. The degree awarded by Medical College for Women and Hospital is approved and recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is enlisted with WDOMS (World Directory of Medical Schools). Since 2004, the college also offers postgraduate training recognized by the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). This provides the opportunity for the students to work and pursue this noble profession, anywhere in the world. The college fee is affordable for both local and foreign students.

Courses/Faculties

•     Faculty of General Medicine (MBBS)

The college offers a five year course of study, approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, awarding MBBS degree. After completing the degree, the students are required to do compulsory one-year internship in the University hospital itself, to gain experience in practice. For the training, the college is equipped with an 800 bed university hospital, which shares the college campus. 
The faculties are experienced, and the teaching staff is nationally reputed. Even the clinical training staff is well trained, and the students’ training is done under strict guidance. The college has an excellent library, to provide resources for the students.

Accommodation

The college provides safe and comfortable accommodation for all local and international students. The rooms are given on a twin-sharing basis. The hostel rooms are fully furnished. The hostel is equipped with laundry services and a hygienic and sanitized mess, with provisions for Indian food as well. The campus is fully secured with adequate provisions for the security of their students. 

Student Life

he campus is secure and safe. The basic services are available within the campus itself. There is utmost attention paid to the training program. There are provisions for extracurricular activities for the students, there are playgrounds and sports and other activities like debates, competitions and quiz, etc. are promoted by the university. The students have access to library catering both their academic as well as other needs, so that the students can read books, other than their course material. The college is very lively, when it comes to campus and fun activities. The students are taught in modern classrooms, and the training and practical work is functioned in well-equipped medical labs. Due to the campus having both college and hospital, the work and the study environment is filled with proper conduct and ethics and a good potential of learning is there.
