Revised DGME Guidelines For MBBS in Bangladesh For Indian Students

Bangladesh has been one of the most popular destinations to study medicine for Indian students for years. The presence of the top medical colleges in Bangladesh with a similar study pattern and curriculum to India and easy-to-meet eligibility criteria urge thousands of Indian students to study MBBS in Bangladesh. On February 9th, 2023, the Directorate General of Medical Education of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh published the revised guidelines for admission of foreign students in the government and private medical colleges of Bangladesh for the academic year 2022-23. Indian medical aspirants planning to join the Bangladesh medical colleges are required to comply with the new guidelines of DGME.

Updated MBBS Admission in Bangladesh Guidelines For Indian Students 

1. Number of seats for foreign students

The number of seats allocated for Indian students to study MBBS in Bangladesh in the academic session of 2022-2023 is 22. There is a maximum of 45% seat reservation of the total allocated seats for foreign students in private medical colleges in Bangladesh.  

2. Submission of online applications

Indian students interested to study MBBS in Bangladesh are required to make an online application for admission only through www.dgmev.bd. No offline applications will be invited and accepted by the Bangladesh foreign mission board whatsoever. The last date to submit the online application is 30th March 2023 for both government and private medical colleges in Bangladesh. No applications will be invited after the deadline. 

3. Documentation required for equivalence certificate

Below is the list of documents required to be submitted to make the online application for admission:

  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Passport documents
  • Certificates and mark sheets of Class 10th and 12th.
  • Copy of telegraphic transfer (T.T.)

The above-mentioned documents to be submitted must be attached by the Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs of India. Once the online application form is submitted, the candidates will collect a printed copy of the application form. 

The attested documents are also required to be submitted to the Bangladesh mission to get a visa.  

4. Eligibility criteria to study MBBS in Bangladesh

Here are the admission requirements for Indian medical aspirants to apply for MBBS in Bangladesh in 2023:

Government medical colleges in Bangladesh

Private medical colleges in Bangladesh

Passed 10th standard in or after 2019.

Passed 10th standard in or after 2019.

Passed 12th standard in or after 2021.

Passed 12th standard in or after 2021.

Aggregate GPA 8.0 in GPA 5 scale. (10th/12th standard)

Aggregate GPA 7.0 in GPA 5.0 scale (60%) with GPA 4.0 in Biology (70%) in GPA 5.0 scale in 12th standard.

The GPA in the 12th standard is calculated based on the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

5. Tuition Fees 

The details about the tuition fees to study MBBS in Bangladesh for Indian students is as follows:

  • For government medical colleges in Bangladesh: Indian students will pay tuition fees at the same rate charged to the Bangladeshi student.
  • For private medical colleges in Bangladesh: Any information related to the tuition fees can be obtained directly from the colleges' websites. 

6. Application fees (For both govt. and private medical colleges) 

Indian students are required to pay the application fee of $100 through Telegraphic Transfer/ SWIFT Code.
